Natural Choice Foods has partnered with West-Michigan based recycling company, Padnos. Their company makes it easy to recycle nonferrous metals, plastics, papers, and electronic scrap, all of which we produce in our office spaces and warehouse. Our team thought, if our overall mission is to take steps towards saving the environment, why haven’t we expanded our efforts beyond food waste? So, that’s exactly what we did.
The Benefits
We’re dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to scrapping all waste, including non-food waste. Any and all paper, plastic, cardboard and metal we use is now being sent to Padnos where it will be managed properly to minimize recyclable materials from ending up in the landfill. Recycling non-food waste also conserves natural resources–like timber, water, and minerals–and prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials. One seemingly small internal change can have a significant impact on our environment.
How It Works
Each week, we take our recyclable materials from our office and warehouse spaces to one of the Padnos recycling centers where they buy our scraps. From there, they can recycle the materials and resell them, preventing unnecessary production of new paper or plastic. They also use some of the collected scrap materials to create sculptures and art around West Michigan. These materials that otherwise would have been thrown away after a single use are being repurposed, reused, and resold.
Our Journey to Zero-Waste
Here at Natural Choice Foods, sustainability is one of our top priorities. Although we often emphasize the importance of reducing food waste, recycling in all forms is essential to our mission. Our partnership with Padnos is yet another step in our journey towards zero-waste.
