Reducing Wasted Food & Packaging

Earth Day has us all talking about ways we can help save the planet, including reducing wasted food and packaging. Since we opened our doors in 1997, we’ve always been intentional about exercising sustainable practices. We’ve worked to reduce food waste by purchasing nearly all overstock, outdated, and distressed food items from a variety of sellers nationwide. What we don’t sell, we donate and recycle into biofuels, compost, or livestock feed. To further our sustainability efforts, we’ve partnered with Perfect Circle Recycling and Padnos to take our waste reduction efforts to the next level.

Sustainability Partners

We’re dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to prevent food waste and packaging. We also want to ensure the proper disposal of non-food waste materials. At Natural Choice Foods, all paper, plastic, cardboard, and metal is now being sent to Padnos where it will be managed properly to minimize recyclable materials from ending up in landfills.

Each week, we take our recyclable materials from our office and warehouse spaces to one of the Padnos recycling centers where they buy our scraps. From there, they can recycle the materials and resell them. This prevents unnecessary production of new paper or plastic.

In addition, we work with Perfect Circle Recycling to turn any food waste into energy and animal feed. Ultimately reducing wasted food.

New Eco-Friendly Facility

Natural Choice Foods has invested in creating an exceptionally safe and sustainable facility. The entire new Marne facility contains an eco-friendly CO2 refrigeration system and a generator backup system. This is to ensure all food stays at proper temperatures, so nothing goes to waste. The new HQ also includes our expanded food repack and co-pack facility. Which grew from just 1,000 sq feet to over 12,000.

We take private label overstock, distressed, product seconds, or non-sellable food products and repack them. It’s the easiest and safest way for you to protect your current contracts, your reputation, your bottom line, and the environment.

Here at Natural Choice Foods, sustainability is one of our top priorities. Although we often emphasize the importance of reducing food waste, recycling in all forms is essential to our mission. Our partnership with Padnos and Perfect Circle Recycling is yet another step in our journey toward zero waste.
